My husband and I moved into our new house this weekend. It was more or less an all-around nightmare for me.
Thursday and Friday were fairly bad migraine days for me, but in the early hours of Saturday morning, I was roused from deep sleep with the kind of rare, body-wracking pain and nausea that leaves me contemplating suicide.
Needless to say, I was completely unable to help with the move in any way. I retreated to a dark, quiet room in the new house and did battle with the hellacious migraine from the comfort of an air mattress. However, we were blessed with help from both sets of parents, my brother, and a family friend. They all earned themselves big karma points.
The way my husband cared for me while trying to coordinate the loading, transportation, and unloading of our possessions was nothing short of incredible. I don't know how he does it, but that man is always there for me when I need him. He set up my dark, quiet room for me, blowing up the air mattress, blocking the shadeless window with the lids from cardboard moving boxes, tracking down my medication, and driving me from our apartment to the new house himself. I love him.
