Chronic Babe has an awesome article up regarding strategies for dealing with the impact of migraine disease on your job.

Managing a mean manager: How one babe balanced her career AND her health

I've been lucky enough to have an incredibly understanding boss. He allowed me to reduce my hours as necessary depending on how I'm feeling any given week. If I feel well enough to be there full time, great. If not, I'm able to stay home and take care of myself.

However, unfortunately, I have been in the position of dealing with a less-than-understanding co-worker. Some people just don't understand migraine disease, nor do they want to. Other people don't seem to have it in them to be accommodating or compassionate regardless of whether they have a clear picture of what you're going through. There isn't really anything we can do to change these attitudes, but there are ways to attempt to increase understanding of the disease and our resulting limitations with others we encounter in work life. I highly recommend this article as an introduction to such strategies.
