insulin: as predicted, just what the doctor ordered

The news was depressing at my endocrinologist appointment yesterday, but we're taking positive steps to address my ever-growing list of issues.

My HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c) is better (down to 9.6), though still not in the normal range, but my cholesterol is out of control. I have to start injecting insulin four times a day to get my blood glucose levels down into the right range and taking a high powered fish oil capsule for the cholesterol. Dr. M II prescribed me a liquid form of my oral diabetes medication because I've been having so many problems with what I assume to be migraine-related nausea. I'm hoping that might make it easier for me to get it down even when I'm feeling super sick to my stomach.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I already feel much better after less than a full day on insulin. I'm in my regular amount of pain, but I feel as though the weighty cloud of fatigue and lethargy has lifted.

My glucose levels already seem to be responding. And who'd have thought that injecting insulin would actually hurt less and suck less than testing my blood sugar? Not me, that's for sure.
