As of 1:30 am on Wednesday, May 28, 112 people have signed the petition to protect migraineurs and others with health concerns from the negative effects of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

As a member of the Migraine Disease & Headache Bloggers Association, I'm working to promote changes in recently enacted federal law that will harm migraineurs whose attacks are triggered by CFLs.

The goal of the petition is to ask Congress to amend the 2007 energy bill to set minimum efficiency standards instead of outlawing incandescent bulbs.

Protect Migraineurs from Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

About five months ago a poll I posted on this site revealed that 60% of people responding to the poll believe CFLs are a migraine trigger for them. While this poll is in no way scientific, it illustrates the burden CFLs impose on people with migraine disease.

Poll: Are CFLs a Migraine Trigger?

Please take a moment to review our petition and consider signing it. We will be sending it to our congressional representatives and requesting their support for our proposed change. In addition to submitting a list of signatures, we will be including proposed language for an amendment, which will request a change that emphasizes energy standards, rather than a focus on eliminating existing technology.

Thank you for your support of this important effort to ensure accessibility continues unfettered for migraineurs all across the United States.
