I had a first appointment with a local neurologist today. He said he's not willing to do IV Ketamine (not surprising), but suggested we try Botox.
His staff will start working to get insurance approval, but I think I'll probably get it and pay out of pocket even if they reject the request. I know it's not a sure thing by any means, but I think it makes sense to try it and find out whether or not it's a good option for me.
I still have some hesitation about being poked with all those needles and the expense, but I'm going to try to come to terms with the idea while we're waiting to hear from the insurance company.
Overall I was pleased with the appointment. The doctor and his staff were very nice. He said he'd be willing to do IV magnesium, but that he thought the Botox was probably more promising. I think I agree.
My mom came with me to the appointment, then we had a nice lunch and went for a walk around my neighborhood. I truly feel like a regular person this week! It's an amazing feeling.
I hope each and every one of you has a fabulous holiday weekend!
