A delayed release gel cap formula of valproic acid called Stavzor was recently approved by the FDA for use in preventing migraines.

Stavzor has a few advantages over the Depakote brand of valproic acid pills. It is a smaller pill and comes in a gel capsule formula, which is easier to swallow. It also features a special coating that reduces reflux and gastric instability.

Stavzor will be available by prescription sometime this month. You can read more about Stavzor and its use in preventing migraines at this link: Stavzor for Migraines.
