Finally Giving In: Botox for Migraine Prevention

I had an appointment with my local neurologist on Friday.

At my last appointment he suggested I get Botox injections to prevent my migraines. As I've discussed in the past, I've been thinking about it and weighing the pros and cons ever since.

Both of my neurologists think I'm a good candidate for Botox, but I'm honestly extremely skeptical. I've tried so many treatments and dozens of medications, all to no avail. If it works, great. If not, I'll just have paid a pile of money and been poked in the head and neck with 15+ needles for no reason. I'm going in Wednesday afternoon to receive the injections. I'm terrified and worried, but I think this is the right thing to do.

I'm also going to the hospital today for IV therapy. I hope that will give me some immediate pain relief and energy. It has in the past, but the medication I respond to best (Ketamine) isn't widely available. My doctor in Dallas is one of the only doctors in the country who uses it. Instead we're going to try magnesium and Depacon.

In a weird way I'm feeling defeated, but fall is a good time to try something new and give myself a fresh start.
