Today's prompt for the WEGO Health Activist Writer's Month Challenge is "Pretend you are writing a question about your health condition  –  it can be as silly/humorous as you want. (Remember: Your answer can be just as silly.)

Because I'm not feeling overly creative as I'm writing this I decided to find a real Yahoo question to answer for this post. I selected "Is Naproxen good to cure migraines?"

For starters, I despise the use of the word "cure" with respect to migraine disease. There is no cure. Furthermore, something like naproxen (such as Aleve) just dulls the pain if it does anything at all. To abort a migraine attack any of the variety of triptans on the market is a good choice for most people. Examples of of triptans include Treximet, Zomig. Frova, Imitrex and Maxalt. Most doctors have samples of these medications on hand, so don't be afraid to ask for samples so you can find out which ones work well for you before you pay for them at the pharmacy. They can be rather expensive depending on your health insurance coverage.
