For the month of April I'm participating in WEGO Health's Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge Prompts. If you'd like more information or want to participate, too, please visit: Health Activist Writer's Month Challenge.

Today's WEGO Health Activist Writing Month Prompt is Activist's Choice. Is it just me or is an open ended prompt like this harder to write about than something more specific? Maybe I'm just a little lacking in inspiration this week.

Since I started taking Elavil (amitriptyline) about a month and a half ago for migraine prevention my migraines have been worse than ever. Elavil, a type of antidepressant, is an effective preventive for many, many people, but it's clearly not working for me. In my head I knew the chances of this medication being "the one" after failing on so meds many was slim, but I'm still frustrated. I guess part of me thought this could be the magic bullet we've been looking for the past eight years. It doesn't always work that way when you're dealing with a complicated, layered disease.
